Industrial Construction
Projects involving the construction of industrial facilities often demand a level of technical complexity, coordination, and regulatory compliance that goes well beyond typical commercial builds. Kubale Constructions has extensive expertise in delivering time-sensitive industrial projects … on budget. The industrial delivery environment requires precision planning, multi-disciplinary expertise, and tight risk management to achieve compliant, efficient, and reliable outcomes. We now have capacity and resources in both Victoria and Queensland to deliver critical infrastructure to industrial sector clients.
Industrial Construction Project Highlights
Nowa Nowa was one of four projects awarded to Kubale Constructions by DEWLP as part of a facilities upgrade in East Gippsland for their fire-fighting fleet. This site was designed to facilitate the storage and maintenance of their new Unimog and G-Wagon vehicles including a large and separate dangerous goods storage shed.
After demolition of the existing buildings was complete, significant civil works were undertaken on the road and drainage including asphalt and curbing. New buildings of approximately 850m2 were erected on slabs using conventional steel portal frames and clad with Colourbond. Individual bays were built for each of the 10 vehicles it could house.
The contract included the installation of self-bunded diesel and petrol storage tanks, bowsers, a large canopy, bollards and an underground Pureceptor oil and water separator tank system. The site was then completed with a full security upgrade including access control, CCTV, and large sliding palisade gates.
This project was handed over within budget and on time to a satisfied client.

Erica was one of four projects awarded to Kubale Constructions by DEWLP as part of a facilities upgrade in East Gippsland for their fire-fighting fleet. This site was designed to facilitate the storage and maintenance of their new Unimog and G-Wagon vehicles including a large and separate dangerous goods storage shed.
After demolition of the existing buildings was complete, significant civil works were undertaken on the road and drainage including asphalt and curbing. New buildings of approximately 780m2 were erected on slabs using conventional steel portal frames and clad with Colourbond. Individual bays were built for each vehicle with an industrial wash-down bay at the end with vacuum equipment.

On a partial green-fields site, Kubale Constructions began work on Fonterra’s new distribution cool room and freezer facility in Cobden. Specifically for the Western Star Butter lines, the building is constructed of structural steel, tilt slab and cool room panelling on a concrete slab.
The scope of works included the installation of all refrigeration plant and equipment including heavy transport bays and dock levellers. Works also included earthworks to raise the slab above the existing levels, roadside curbing, foot paths and basic landscaping around the building. Hydronic refrigerated lines were laid throughout the extensive slab as part of the cool room function. In total, the site measured approximately 1500m2. The timeline was very tight, and the site and surrounding areas needed to remain operational which included significant traffic management.
This project was successfully completed on time and within budget.

Heyfield was the smaller of four projects awarded to Kubale Constructions by DEWLP as part of a facilities upgrade in East Gippsland for their fire-fighting fleet. This site was designed to facilitate the storage and maintenance of their new G-Wagon vehicles including a large and separate dangerous goods storage shed.
After demolition of the existing buildings was complete, significant civil works were undertaken on the road and drainage including asphalt and curbing. New buildings of approximately 600 sqr metres were erected on slabs using conventional steel portal frames and clad with Colourbond.
The contract included the installation of self-bunded diesel and petrol storage tanks, bowsers, a canopy, bollards and an underground Pureceptor oil and water separator tank system. The site was then completed with a minor security upgrade.

In a departure from traditional on-site construction, Kubale Constructions was awarded the contract for the manufacture of large guttering modules for the roof at the Wonthaggi Desalination Plant. Rather than constructing them in-situ, our facility was fitted with custom designed jigging and equipment to handle the job in-house.
The production schedule demanded by the principal contractor (Theiss) fluctuated greatly. It was necessary that we produce the modules in-step with the building schedule of the plant at Wonthaggi; delays were not accepted.
Simply handling the modules safely was difficult because each 8-metre steel section weighed over 500kg. Works included lining the modules with copper treated ply followed by a seam welded PVC membrane (technique new to AU). We were required to learn new techniques and develop our own production methodology to maintain quality and increase production output as demanded.
We hit every deadline imposed by this aggressive schedule while maintaining excellent quality in workmanship.
- Custom in-house jigging and repetitive manufacturing techniques
- Handling of 8 metre x 500 kg massive steel and timber structures
- Large scale adhesive application and long continuous seam welding
- Tight scheduling and the ability to scale up and down
This project for V Line in the town of Warragul was to erect two new maintenance sheds and the support buildings for the depot staff.
Works included the removal of contaminated soil, levelling of the site and the erection of two identical maintenance sheds. Each shed was approximately 320m2 and they were built on concrete slabs.
Minimal offices were constructed from Atco relocatable buildings with an adjacent amenities block. The site was completed with perimeter cyclone fencing.
Valued at just over $1.2m, this was a relatively simply project done in a short time frame.
- Design and Construct project
- Steel framed Colorbond clad sheds
- Atco portable building modules
The Preston Pumping Station contract follows various successful projects undertaken by Kubale Constructions for the Water Resources Alliance. As our fourth contract with this client, this project represents the trust that the Alliance partners had in our relevant expertise and ability to get the job done.
This project involved very complex subterranean structural concrete works requiring over 500 tonnes of concrete and a vast quantity of reinforcement, much assembled on site. Our staff contributed to the design of the formwork and the mix of the concrete poured in recognition of our experience in complex slab work.
Included in the construction schedule was a mains pressure reducing valve pit and an industrial acoustic ceiling built from DuraPanel. These large panels were built on the ground and craned into position forming a seamless sound dampening barrier.
This was a complex project involving night works and difficult traffic management given the location on High Street Preston. This project was successfully completed on time and within budget.
- Expansive excavation and subterranean concrete works
- Significant contribution to formwork design prior to construction
- Night works and traffic management required
- DuraPanel acoustic ceilings constructed and raised on-site
This project was a design and construct building for the application of manufacturing a new type of aircraft for Mahindra air services who are currently operating out of the existing site and surrounding buildings. We were able to produce a winning design through careful discussions with our associated architect, design team and members of the Latrobe City Council.
The hangar measures 52 metres long and 25 metres wide containing an internal office space of 110m2 and an external office and amenities area of 100m2. The office and amenities areas were specifically designed for the use of Mahindra management and staff while our installation of a 23-metre-wide gantry crane speeds up manufacturing time. Planes enter and exit the hangar via a large auto bi-folding door which boasts an opening size of 8 metres high and 22 metres wide.
We are very proud of our design and the Latrobe City Council is extremely happy with our methods and management of the project in a highly active and potentially dangerous area.
- Design and Construct project
- Collaborative project with successful outcomes for all
- Complex and dangerous construction environment
- 22m wide door and 23m wide gantry crane

It also covers major upgrades and fitouts within existing operational facilities.
What is the difference between industrial and commercial construction?
Commercial construction focuses on structures for business and public use, like offices, retail shops, or hotels. Industrial construction is for facilities with specific manufacturing or production purposes. Industrial builds often require more complex engineering, heavy-duty foundations, specialised equipment integration, and stricter safety protocols due to the processes they house.
